Since I've replaced just about every part / performed every repair mentioned in this thread at least once, as well as each and every PCV mod/reversal/mod, I'm due my "trouble free years". Hell, I'd settle for some trouble free MONTHS.
My conclusion - Saabs are way too troublesome for non "true believers". But, if you're smitten, nothin's going to change your mind, no matter the cost.
Although I'd love to replace it with an Acura TL and reclaim my free time, I keep my 2000 lpt wagon because 1) despite the constant attention lavished on it, it's probably worth less than what the dealer charges for a Code 08 fix; and, 2) I AM IT'S MASTER! It will NOT beat me!
Owning it also gives me a reason to read the board. It is an amazing community with many articulate and technically proficient posters offering invaluable info on repairs, parts, etc. Swedecar is a treasure with his willingness to spend off-time fielding repair questions - I only wish he were closer to service my car. I can honestly say if were not for Saabnet, I would have scuttled the car years ago. So keep posting.
