Hello:
I have a 2000 Saab 9-5 V-6. The CEL came on and stayed on for two days then went off and stayed off. I used a code reader and it displayed P1300. The dealer stated it was random misfire. After the dealer checked things they told me I needed two new DIC's. I Oked the repair and they indicated they were on backorder and could not give me a date when they would be available. I called SaabUSA and the CSR took some information and would contact me in 2-3 days with an update. In the mean time I looked online and it seems SAAB part suppliers have them in stock. I would like to have my car fixed since from reading previous posts the DIC can fail and leave you stranded. I may call some of the SAAB part dealers tomorrow and see if they really do have them in stock. If they do, I would like to order them and have the SAAB dealer install them. Has anybody done this before?
I have had a very good relationship with the dealer and would like to keep it that way. I have checked with SAABUSA and my car is not in the recall campaign for defective DIC's. Thanks for any advice.
Barry
