Purchased 2 DIC's from ebay foreigncarpartsonline. That's the user ID for FCP Groton, their toll free number 877-634-0063. Paid $156 each plus $10 in shipping...roughly. eEuroparts also has them...they're $185 or so each - free shipping.
That's about $100 (or more)chepaer per DIC than the dealer will charge you.
When mine melted down, I had to have the car towed. I have an extended warranty, so I had it towed to the dealer figuring it would be covered. Unfortunately for me, it was specifically excluded from the warranty. So I chose to have it towed to my regular indy shop, sourced my own parts, and paid all of $40 (1/2 hour labor) to have them swapped out. Even considering that I was also dropping off my C900 Convertible for about $500 in spring-piddly-little-sh%t-all-labor work...that's still cheap! Even with the additional tow ($55), that's still cheap. The dealer quote to do both DIC's with parts was $675. I spent $365 plus the tow. Once the car is out of warranty, I think it's better to have a great relationship with a good indy than it is to have a relationship with the dealer. I didn't hesitate for a fraction of a second before ordering up a flat bed to take the car away from the dealer, and over to the indy. If they would have had any questions, they would have been more than welcome to price-match. They won't so it's a mute point.
