I see. I tow three times a year - once each for our spring and fall migration (with a 9-3 CV in tow) and invariably one other time for some reason. Not enough to warrant slogging around in an SUV for 360 days per year so long as the "automobile" tow vehicle is reasonably adept. I have a dolly with electric brakes and the 9-5 Aero pulls it just fine, thanks, so long as I creep along at 70 mph in the slow lane. I've gone to great expense to avoid ice and snow, and thus paying extra for AWD seems stupid. I'm amazed that BMW, MB, and Audi are putting forth objections to towing, because in Europe people tow just about everything with their cars, most of which are a lot smaller than any of the above.
