… owning their Saabs for many years and many more miles never had problems with it? I’m sorry, I am a new Saab owner. I just got 2000 9-5 SE v6 Wagon a week ago. After driving it happily for couple days I went online and found this site. And the nightmare begun… TB cleaning and replacement problems, failing SID’s, blue smoke puffs and turbo replacements, spare DIC’s in the trunk, ACC codes, motors and arms, engine swaps due to sludge (!), and many many more $$$ between the lines. Honestly, since visiting this board for the first time I haven’t had a good night’s sleep! I’m not a rich person, and the car was already stretch on my budget (I loved it after test driving it, had no idea about “maintenance” costs at the time). I don’t need it to gulp extra $2000-3000 per year just to keep it going.
Are there Saab owners who have been driving their cars without ever finding out what code 8 means, how to “iron” SID ribbon, or what the hell DIC is???
Please, tell me that I only have 10-20% chance of this stuff happening…
