Believe it or not, your issue sounds exactly like the weird problem I had on my 2005 9-5 2.3T Arc SW engine.
After a lot of diagnosis, and failure to duplicate the problem, Dave the foreman tried to monitor the sensor feedback on the coolant, when starting cold. It was reading incorrectly out of range, and the engine would not start on the first turn of the key, only on the second. It would only happen when the engine was cold, never when warm or hot, which is the sign of the CPS (had that go on my 1999 9-5 2.3lpt Linear Wagon a few years ago).
The part number was 15393755 here in Canada.
He had actually seen it on another 2005 9-5, the week before mine came in, and tried it as a last resort.
See if you can get a local shop to check - we think the feedback loop from the sensor to the engine caused something in the ECU.
Regards,
CrNiFe
