I posted last week about my 9-5 dying out near Boise. After spending a small fortune towing it 1500 miles back home, my regular shop informed me that, indeed, the turbo is to blame. $1300 to fix.
My question is this: If the turbocharger failed less than 3000 miles after getting the 120K service (which was substantial, at $600), should the shop bear any responsibility? The mechanic sure doesn't think so, as he has now taken a very stand-offish tone at the slightest suggestion.
I've been reading this board ever since I got the car two years ago, and I know plenty of people are aware of the warning signs of impending turbo failure. With my shop giving me a bill of clean health and telling me the turbo looked fine, I took it on a long road trip (which ending disastrously). Am I up a creek on this one?
