It's true that water is not good for an engine as it doesn't compress. So lots of water in a cylinder will break parts. But water droplets shouldn't pose a problem. I personally like "Simple Green" as a de-greaser. I don't know why you couldn't plug the lower side of the inter-cooler and fill it up with water mixed with simple-green? Then flush it out well after it sits a while and then wet/dry vacuum it out. That's what I would do, with caution. When my turbo was replaced on my V6, they removed the inter-cooler and cleaned it out but it's got oil in it again as my new turbo leaks some on the intake side. The Dealer says it's normal. My warranty is good until next August so I may ask for another turbocharger then?
