Uhhh - I have no idea why you're reinforcing anything. I don't think it's a good idea to go drilling into the key housing - you may have caused some damage there.
When you buy the all-in-one key online, the major reason your buying it is to get the electronics inside at a cheap price. At the dealership the inside electronics cost something ridiculo (> $150); however, the electronics can be taken out of an old key on eBay for $20.
The key body, into which the electronics go, is something you order from the dealership. I think I paid $40 for that two years ago when I upgraded to an all-in-one key. If you have an older (pre-all-in-one) 9-5, you will have to be explicit as to the type of key, as the system will automatically order you an old banana style key+fob. They can order the all-in-one for all 9-5 years.
Once you receive the new key body, hand them the old key you bought on ebay, and tell them to use the old electronics. It's a simple matter for them to reprogram the key elecronics. (They will have to use the Tech II, so expect a charge for that.)
If you want to look inside your current all-in-one key to check for damage:
Push in an awl, or another small pointy tool, into the small hole at the side of the key. That should enable you to pop off the back cover. Once you have the back cover off, it's fairly evident how to take the electronics/buttons out for transplant into a new key-body.
Good Luck,
KevinH
