Local Saab dealership. CPO 2005 ARC wagon with 23k, like new, silver with charcoal interior. This car is for my wife, who has been driving new Audis since the late 80's. I have had 6 Saabs 99's, C900's, NG 900 and currently 00 9-3 SE w 120k, so I am familiar with them, but know little about the 9-5's. I would be inclined to get an 04-05 Aero for the features, seats and additional power...but she really likes this car and is ok with the ARC. (I guess the tires would be cheaper). The price is a bit high at 23.5k (initially asking 26.9k)like new, new Michelins and new brakes/rotors and the CPO is good for 100k or until July 2010, plenty of time to get the bugs worked out. There is no documentation for this car other than Carfax which checks out ok.

What should we expect to pay for this car given the above? This car is in the southeast, not a strong market for Saabs, used or otherwise. Is the Aero that much better? Any routine problems I should look for/expect? I hope I dont have to play with the ignition cartridges and retoruing headbolts and replumbing PCV systems like I did with my 00 9-3, did they have all this stuff fixed by then? There is no weather band, onstar or XM in this car...when did they decontent this or when did they get this stuff?

I think the 04-05's are the best looking of the bunch, are they the best cars though? 06-08 are too ugly with those headlights/taillights so they wont be considered.

I have found that first year Saabs are troublesome, it takes a few years for them to get the bugs out. My 1994 900 SE was a project every weekend, whereas my 00 9-3 has been relatively trouble free, and I spend little time fixing things.
