I installed a draw-tite hitch on my wife's 2003 9-5 Aero wagon. At the time, I debated the tradeoffs and searched for valid reasons to spend 3 to 4 times more for the Ssab official hitch. There was some mention that the aftermarket hitch would compromise the rear crumple zone in the car because of the attachment arrangement. If I recall, the drawtite hitch attaches with two bolts on each side through pre-existing holes in the frame.
For installation, all you have to do is modify a coat-hanger to act as a guide to get the bolts into the frame rail so you can attach the hitch. You also have to remove the towing hook in the rear. The wiring is accomplished with a simple plug which mates into an existing connector. No splicing required and the part, available from a site sponsor, wasn't that expensive.
