I know what you are going through but it sounds like your 9K is getting tired, the 9-5 Aero is a very nice car especially if a wagon. The auto problems of the 9ks has been solved with the 9-5 auto so that isn't a worry any longer. The 9-5 aero doesn't need a 5 speed to have fun. Use the "sport" mode if you really need that but it does consume more gas! The sedan sort of sucks when compared to a hatch car - I went from a 9K aero to a new 99 9-5 sedan and hated it every time I had to haul something. I bought a 2001 Wagon about 15 months later and put the 99 in the garage as a spare. When I sold it a couple of years ago, it only had 30k miles. The wagon has over 110 k miles so you can see what gets used. The 9-5s aren't the blast of the 9ks but you WILL enjoy the newer Aero cars. Make the smart decision not the one by the seat of your pants.
