Isn't the sensor for the temp in SID in that area? If so then it was about 85F which should not be a problem. I am not saying it couldn't. The thing that is so frustrating was it did not do this the first summer I had it.
I had suspected the fuel was turning to vapor in the fuel lines, unlikely in a FI car, but I insulated the fuel lines to no avail. A thought that just occurred is a MAF that starts to flake out when it gets too hot.
I wonder what the failure mode is for an overheated MAF. The car sucks gas when this happens, but I just thought it was because you had to stick your foot in it so much more.....
