The following is a list of both my opinions and general truths about Saabs vs BMW. I own both, so I feel obligated to respond.
1. BMW's leather is thicker, more durable, smells better, lasts longer
2. BMW's have more prestige in the automotive world (racing, luxury, etc.)
3. BMW's design is dated, yet still respectable.
4. BMW's have equal or higher HP & Tqe and an extremely smooth inline 6 cyl with similar gas consumption as 4cyl or 6cyl turbo Saabs.
5. Full optioned Saabs are much cheaper than full optioned BMWs.
6. Saab's SID is not user friendly from the onset; the layout takes getting used to.
7. Tiptronic? 6 spd? Thank you, BMW.
8. Saabs are rarer than BMWs, hondas, acuras, MB, toyotas...this is nice.
9. FWD is good in poor weather conditions, RWD is awesome in dry conditions.
10. You can't steer with the right pedal with a Saab.
11. BMW paint is regarded by most detailers as the best around.
12. Saabs innovation and implementation of safety is unmatched.
13. Aftermarket support...BMW
14. BMW owns BMW
15. Saabs warranty repair, replace, no questions asked is something BMW should take notes from.
16. First Saab timing belt replaced for free...HOT DAMN!
17. BMW car club of America and its local chapters are an entity in themselves.
18. Saab expects its customers will come back and buy again, BMW couldn't care less.
19. Make an AWD viggen with 300+HP and you could eat M3s for lunch.
20. Resale value...BMW
