Another situation where one would want to turn off running lights completely - and I do mean one as I might be the only astronomy buff around here :)

When going to what we call a "star party" or just a telescope observing session, you don't want to have your fully bright xenons on ruining the night vision of everyone else already there. I bought the wagon instead of a sedan because I wanted to haul my telescope to such an event one day but this is one obstacle to overcome first. I know you can pull a fuse (if I weren't on my smartphone I would search the forum myself to find the fuse #) but has anyone made themselves a little on/off switch, something to fill the empty button ports on the left side of the dash?
Personally I hate those plastic cover things since it makes it seem like another trim level has more buttons than you (but I don't think this is the case, I think even Aeros have plastic covers where buttons might have gone or used to be) but I realize they saved some money by being able to use the same dashboard for what, 6 or 7 years.

That brings me to another Q about the headlight switch itself. I have the bi-xenons in the visibility package. There doesn't seem to be any difference in headlight operation for any of the three settings. Just that front and rear fog lights won't come on unless the headlamp is ON instead of in the parking light or Daytime running light position. Is there a difference for non xenon cars? I wish the daytime running light position didn't make the headlights fully bright at night, so that there would be a difference in the 3 settings.
