I noticed the gauge read very close to 0 psi. You may not want to hear this, but if there is a leak, it's very possible the few pounds you had left was air. If it was, you'll have moisture in the system.
That means you ought to totally evacuate the system and boil off all the moisture using a single or dual stage motorized vacuum pump. I've got a JB Industries 2-stage. The vacuum also allows you to pressure check the system. If it will hold vacuum it would be ok.
When I did my truck last summer I hooked one up and brought the pressure down to -30hg for about 45 minutes (15 would have probably done it) in 80 degree whether. I say this because even minute amounts of moisture in these systems will combine with the coolant to corrode the A/C parts.
That vacuum will then suck in close to a can of R134 quickly. The system takes .87 Kilograms or abour 2 lbs. and should show 1.5-2/5 bar pressure (21-36 lbs).
Thanks for posting the pictures, I was wondering where that low pressure valve was.
