Rubbery brakes after change, anyone similar experience?

OK, so I did the 4-corners brake job this weekend. I put 4 slotted brembo rotors and 4 sets of akebono euro pads. The brakes work fine, but they feel a little "rubbery" now (before I had OEM pads and rotors; fronts were almost gone). I'm curious if anyone else going with akebono euros had similar experience. Now, I'm sure that:
- I didn't put any air into the system. The pistons in calipers were fine and I just pushed them back in.
- I put all caliper springs correctly. I knew that this is often a trouble spot so I paid extra attention and double checked if I put them back on properly.
- I did the bed-in procedure until I felt significant brake fade (10 hard brakes from 60mph to 10mph followed by 15 mins 60mph cooling period before stopping)
The brakes feel rubbery but they don't have the "pumping" effect as would be with air in the lines (and as I said, I'm pretty sure I didn't put any). Could this be inherent to brand new pads/rotors and will improve over time or am I missing something? Anyone else with similar experience with akebonos? Thanks!
