I got mine from Stern several years ago. The beam pattern is literally DAY vs night. I had no problems aiming them, and mmediately after replacing the shot rear shocks which allowed more bobbing, have had no oncoming traffic complaints or from cars I've followed at length (hundred's of miles).
When my bulbs eventually went, I did go to the slightly higher wattage for the high beams (Stern, again).
I used to do a significant amount of night driving, and stopped needing the fogs on the twisty dark back roads, and haven't used them in at least a couple of years. The ecode beam cutoff is low and wide, and the upward is on curb side, which makes the edge of the road much easier to see... and the deer in Maine (my wife's family is from north of Portland, and it was practically an every other week run a few years ago)
I've just started getting middle aged eyes, and have much more empathy for those who have that problem. At this point, we typically take the saab over the other vehicles if it will be a night drive. I find the eye strain significantly less, and the difference in overall driving comfort huge. FWIW, I used to do 100K a year and would do the driving light/fog light thing because of the amount of overnight runs I would make. The ecodes won't take the place of really good driving lights, but you can't use the driving lights unless it's desolate w/o driving anyone else on the road crazy. Really good fog's (I'm not a fan of the saab plastic bracket and high replacement cost) are good when you need them, but I like the fact that I don't really need them with the ecodes. The lower beam cut off w/the ecode throws much less reflection if you are in fog.
