I learned with my old 9000 that saying nice things about your SAAB virtually guarantees something will break on your next trip. So I just say, "My 9-5 is or is not in the shop."
I also have a 2003 Aero & as for your fuel guage, welcome to the club. Mine never get stuck at 1/2, but right after fill-ups, it alternates between "Full" & "Empty w/ the light on" for about 100 miles. After that point, the guage functions perfectly until the tank is filled up & we start all over again.
Probably a fuel tank baffle issue. I haven't had time to talk to my indy about removing it, but that's the likely cure.
