I have a sedan and wagon, both SE's. So far both have been very reliable except for the ECU on the sedan. The sedan has 35,000 miles and still no squeaks or rattles. The wagon has better balance and does not roll as much but it is slower. Ride is very good and seats have been excellent for a guy with back surgery. Safety is second to none. MPG's have been good and utility in the wagon especially is excellent. Utility in the sedan would be much better if the trunk lid were bigger or were a feaux hatch design. Auto box in 2.3 lpt makes car too slow unless the new increase in hp for 2001 makes a substantial difference. 2001 Consumer Reports just gave the 9-5 top marks in 14/15 categories and it had next to top marks in the one that was not at the top. Most of my problems have been with poor dealer service which is apparantly unusual for Saab. Most owners have high praise for their dealers. Mine is a multi-marque dealer and Saabs take a back seat to other more profitable marques. Avoid a multi-marque dealer if you can.
