I'm not too concerned about the size. I think it looks bigger in the pictures than it really is. At 1450 lbs gross dry weight, it would likely just top 2000 pounds loaded and is only 6 inches wider than the car on each side. The hitch weight is only 130 lbs and since it also has brakes, how would it be dangerous?
I do appreciate all opinions but I wish I could figure out the conflicting weight specs in the manual and on the hitch. My factory hitch is fastened with four bolts onto a plate attached to the spare wheel well and three more in a triangle pattern to the centre of the bumper. Can anyone out there that has a factory hitch stamped with 3500 lbs tell me if their configuration is different?
