WR's are probably the only tire out there that is designed for all seasons but carries the mountain-snowflake logo (ie winter tire). Some people really like the WR's, but it depends on your driving needs. I'm not a fan of all season tires for any season (too much compromise). I prefer true summer tires april-november and snow tires in winter. That said, we get a lot of snow (already had 6"), and I take the car skiing in snowstorms. Our winter tires are Nokian Hakka 4's (I'd get them studded if I could, but studs are banned here). The 4's seem to have stiffer sidewalls than earlier Hakkas, so less steering play than the old models. If you want performance in snow, they are brilliant! If you are mainly looking for performance on dry roads (not what snow tires are for), you should look elsewhere. Our summer tires are also Nokians btw (NRH2, now replaced by the "H", but I'd go up a level or 2 in speed rating for an Aero)... very happy with them as well (awesome in water) and much better than all seasons in summer... I just get them off the car before the roads are covered in ice - it's a little scary if you don't!
I have friends running Michelin Arctic Alpins and they like them a lot... More of an ice tire than Hakkas (unstudded)... Hakkas are probably better than the Michelins in snow... Gislaveds are less common (and sometimes more expensive), but if you like them, as the title says, maybe find them again! Many others like them. If you are having trouble finding Gislaveds, check with the Volvo dealers...
good luck!
James...
