If you want the best snow/ice traction and you don't mind a little noise, get the Nokian hakkepalittas (spelling may be wrong). When I lived in Vermont i had these on all my cars and never got stuck or had any highway issues. they are really wonderful. I also tried some "performance" winter tires, the Dunlop wintersport m3, I had these on a subaru outback, with the all wheel drive they were pretty good, but the grip was never as good as the hakkepellitas, however, they were better at highway speeds, but who really drives 80mph that much during the winter anyway?
I loved the Nokians.
