it's not easy even if you've done it before. I've installed them on several different vehicles in the past and this was the most difficult. No, you don't leave a key in the ignition. You need a bypass module with a spare key left in it, mine is tucked away so it's difficult to get at. I spliced into the ignition harness using 12ga wire for the ignition(s), acc., etc. and a 10ga wire for the constant hot and ran them up under the dash to have all wiring accessible at one place. You also have to splice into wires at the module under the driver's seat to control the door lock/unlock with the remote. You have to unlock the doors before you remote start so the alarm won't go off (or just leave the car unlocked). A number of relays are used too. Removing the driver's seat, leaving the seat belt attached to the car, makes things a lot easier. I installed mine last winter and haven't had any electrical problems and it works great. Go to Bulldogsecurity.com to get the wiring chart(which are usually accurate) for your car and make your own schematics. If you plan ahead and understand where you need relays(and how they work) and are good with electrical tools you can do this yourself.
