This is a problem solving forum..... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Tue, 6 Jan 2009 19:03:47 In Reply to: Reliability question ????, SteveE, Tue, 6 Jan 2009 17:21:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
In short, hell yes! Many, many participants in this forum have had excellent reliability in their Saabs well beyond 100,000 and even 200,000 miles, but this BB major function is to help with problems, so at the bottom it reads:
"This is a problem solving forum for over 250,000 Saab owners, so expect to see problems discussed here even though our cars are generally very reliable."
9-5's have proven to be the most reliable Saabs, winning JD Power awards for initial quality surveys and being recommended by consumer publications for reliability.
I've owned 'em all, BMW, Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, VW, Saturn, Fiat, Alfa, Toyota, Honda and more. And I've sold all of the above except Mercedes as well as Lancia, Subaru, Peugeot, Chrysler, Cadillac, GMC, Buick, Hummer and virtually every brand ever if you count used cars. I was a used car manager for 8 1/2 years servicing and reconditioning everything.
A Saab 9-5 is as reliable and durable as any brand and almost as good as the boring Japanese cars.
One point to remember is that lately the worst is better than the best ever was. That is a 1990 Lexus, the king of reliability then, is no better than the worst Korean import by today's standards. Every brand has gotten so good it's scary.
My Saab, a 2000 9-5 Aero SportWagon, has only 98k on it and has been almost perfect. And it looks great, smells great, drives fabulously and has many features you can't even find in other brands at any price.
