I have a 1999 9-5 4cyl auto. This is probably the worst year and model for reliablity and I have 180,000 miles on the car. The most major repair has been a head gasket and engine clean at 114,000 miles when I bought it as a precaution beacuse the last owner did not use synthetic oil. In all I have maybe $1,500 in repairs, maintenance, and tires invested into the car in the last 67,000 miles. That beats my wife's Nissan, and every other car I have owned except for some of my GM full size trucks and Suburbans. The SAAB still looks fresh, has no rust (rare in Michigan and Chicago where it has lived), and drives like a dream. I will probably go through and replace a lot of the lines in the engine compartment this spring as some of them are starting to look a little brittle. I expect this car to last to 250,000 miles. Its even starting to win over my "everything not made in Japan is crap" father in law.
