I don't think that they coat hanger is a good enough test to give a clean bill of health. Yes, it will show if the engine is badly sludged, however it won't give any indication of whether the oil pick up screen is clogged, and this is the most important part. I recently had the oil light on my car flicker on. I have always done 5k oil changes (90% freeway driving as well). What I found was no sludge in the pan, but the screen was almost completely clogged with "coffee grounds". You will only be able to inspect that by dropping the oil pan. I just bought Bob Bright's oil pan and will install that in the coming weeks.
