I am dropping big bucks on repairs lately...

I am starting to notice that I am dropping more money on repairs than I would have liked. I have an 03 Aero with 114K miles. I just finished a alternator, belts and pulley job last month. Bill was $900 or thereabout.
I just called and the quote for all CV joints is at $500. Damn.
I try to save money by doing a lot of things by myself, filters, plugs, PCV, sensors. I know I'm going to get the "What do you expect from a 114K car?" post....I just hope that this isn't the beginning of the end.
I have forgone other repairs and my ride quality is suffering. I didn't do the mounts so car vibrates and now my door is rattling. I am spending $$$$$$$$ on core problems but the car is starting to show its age and I feel like I'm getting less and less for more and more out of pocket.
At the same time, I don't want to make the outlay for another car and more importantly don't see anything I would want to drive at the $12.5-17.5K price point.
