I like you am crossing my fingers. I've never had to replace the throttle body, I've never had a heater core go, I've never had to buy a new muffler or replace a cat converter. So far, just pulleys, water pumps, belts every 60K (when I purchased with 66K on meter and once again now) well the CV's and that damn alternator. The strangest repair so far was dropping the subframe (entire) and replacing the subframe bushings) But if I have to buy a gold plated cat or a platinum muffler, I'll think twice before I plunk down the cash.
The problem is there's nothing out there right now. I would like to see and drive the new 9-5. I was young when I purchased this car and it was my foot in the door of the medium euro sedan game. I like the idea and heritage behind the A6 but can't get past the fact that a) it's 15K more than this car was used and b) essentially it's really just a re-badged VW c)hate those windows behind the rear door on the Audi, looks like it could drive both ways, I like to know where the ass is on a car.
I guess what bugs me the most is that I am making expensive repairs to a car that has slight idle hesitation, vibrations, squeaks and is built off of a 11 year old playbook.... it was all good when it was relatively new but now that I'm paying all those squeaks, rattles, clunks are bothering me.
