I discovered the boots had been throwing grease, I don't know for how long. In addition, I get some knocking and vibration at certain speeds. Recent;y it's gotten really really bad, I've had two mechanics casually look at it and say they don't see any bushings gone south. Possible that it was the CV all along? The mechanic who has always done fair by me said that four CV kits is the way to go. I asked about just tightening the clamp, he said while you're already there for slightly more money you might as well rebuild/repack with the kits.
Are you saying I should have insisted to just loosen the clamps, pack in more grease and that's that? Or do you have to remove and disassemble to place grease where it belongs?
I plan on keeping the car for another 2-2.5 years, unless something major fails.
