Replacing the spark plugs in a 9-5 is quite simple.
1. Remove the four torx fasteners on top of the Direct Ignition Cassette.
2. Using the appropriate size socket, remove the spark plugs by unscrewing them in a counterclockwise direction.
3. Verify that the gap on the new plugs is correct, and that you are using only the NGK brand spark plugs.
4. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the spark plugs.
5. Tighten the new spark plugs in a clockwise directions to 20 foot-pounds of torque using a torque wrench.
6. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the rubber boot (that the spark plug will go into) on the Direct Ignition Cassette. Place the DI Cassette over the spark plugs and press it down.
7. Apply a small amount of Permatex blue thread locking compound to the threads of the four torx fasteners that hold down the DI Cassette.
