So basically they are revamping the interior materials to return to that of the early 9-5s? Where are the innovations like pendulum b pillars and the SAHR systems? I'm sorry, but dual DVD screens for the rear and an extra zone for the HVAC don't do much for me as a former SAAB owner. OK they did add AWD. As for the US engine choices, a couple of variants of the Holden V6 is an underwhelming choice. I have driven the 9-3 Aero version of it and I preferred the 9.5 Aero engine on the occassions when it actually ran right. Where is the manual tranny? Let us not forget Bluetooth, something that could have easily have been incorporated with the Black Tie radio (and wasn't). I almost forgot, you will now get push button start. My mother's '59 Rambler Classic had it and push button transmission gear selection too! Add on the Honda Accord like rear end and it just makes me sad. Add the total lack of support for the product by the manufacturer doesn't help.
Sorry, folks but this is a letdown. The brand I supported thru 4 consecutive purchases has been stripped of anything that resembles its former self and is now just another GM clone.
I defected to a VW R32 45 days ago and now that I have seen this, I am even more convinced I did the right thing. We traded the 9-3 Wagon on a Honda Pilot 2 weeks ago.
I had hoped to keep the R for 2 or 3 years and then buy another 9-5. I don't see anything in this new version that makes me want to do that.
