I hope you have the trunk mount as far aft as possible. THat should help some with the antenna hitting the car. But I realize with some of these long antennas, there's not a lot you can do.
The connections to the shark fin are probably taped to the roof panel someplace, so using it to pull might be problematic.
I have a shorty (<17") Larsen on an NMO that I was using on my C900, and was going to go on my 9-5, until the 9-5 got totaled a few weeks ago. That antenna more than got out to all the repeaters I use.
There's another Saaber who installed an antenna by mounting a bracket to the outside edge of the trunk opening, bent over the top of the fender. Its screwed into the body. I wouldn't have done that, but, I had been thinking that if you made a mount like that but used one of the trunk hinge bolts to hold it...
And someplace out there is a chap with a 9-5 and a HUGE Screwdriver antenna on a custom mount at the right rear corner of his 9-5 sedan...
