I tighten it by hand. I find it easier to use an electric impact wrench with a 1/2" impact socket to get it off. I make sure it is running counter clockwise and then I get it all set up and tap the trigger and then take it off the rest of the way by hand.
I just got used to doing it this way. Often when I changed it between dealer and indy changes it was really tough to get off.
