Aah the perils of Northeast roads, having spent my formative years and many after that living in NYC I can fully appreciate the bone jarring you are taking, not to mention the number of bent rims and ruined tires you will face with the low profile tires. Having been in Coastal North Carolina for the past 20 years those issues are behind me. That being said, I drive a "03 Aero" and on these roads ( no winters) it is a dream. The Aero suspension as you know is quite harder than the standard 9-5. I experimented with different tires at times, but always felt the trade off in handling was not worth it. I'm not sure that changing tires or suspension mods would satisfy you after experiencing the Aero suspension on good roads. I would think that the least expensive "experiment" would be with tires at this point, as they are simple to switch back. I am about to redo my suspension this month (struts, rear bushings etc) as they are worn at 120K. If you do ever considering switching models, my son drives an '03 9-3 6 speed, outstanding handling, softer ride. Good luck!
