2003 Aero sedan

I got stocked in traffic on Friday on I91 in CT, bad accident that took three out of the four lanes out. I was crawling for about 1-1/2 hrs, one hr alone from the entrance of the on-ramp to the hwy. Temperature was hot and A/C on full blast, car in gear most of the time, with some breaks to Neutral.

After we passed the backup I drove for about 20 minutes and got a message in the SID saying "add coolant fluid". I got off the HWY and checked but there was still "plenty".

With a pregnant wife who had been in the car for at least three hours, and a dog that hadn't gone to the b-room I just kept driving to my destination. In total I probably drove a good 60 miles before adding fluid.

The next day I topped it off in the morning. I drove for about 200 miles that day in four or five different trips and got the message again. Checked and there was fluid. After getting the message drove about 80 more miles.

This morning I had to top off again.

To the best of my knowledge there are no leaks, the car runs fine. The temperature reads fine too (I have a new(er) t-stat).

So, my question is, was that caused by the traffic jam? or am I looking at a bigger problem? needles to say I will keep my eye on the temperature in the next few days, but, is there something else I should be looking at?

Sorry for the longish message.

Cliffs:
- stocked in traffic for about 2 hrs, moving really really slow, A/C full blast, most of the time with the car in gear
- got a "add coolant fluid" message on SID
- topped off but got the message again the next day, despite having plenty of fluid.
- Do I need to worry about this?
