How much should my 9-5 PCV suck?

I have been suspicious that my PCV (2004 9-5 lin B235E 51,000 auto) isn't functioning. Partly because oil leaks from any of the PCV hoses if they are loose, and also from the timing / head / block corner, as per many posts. So I finally decided to tap into the PCV system: I put a little tee connector into the hose that goes to the valve cover, and plumbed it up to a vacuum gauge. ..... And no vacuum. If I gently rev the engine so that the in-dash turbo gauge pulls to left (I.e. no boost, just suction) still no vacuum on my PCV. Hmm. Just to be sure, I tried attaching the gauge to my mouth, and it works, and yep, I sxxk. I also tried sucking on the pipe i ran to the engine, and I can definitely inhale fumes, so the pipe isn't blocked. Does anyone know if and how much vacuum the PCV system should pull please? I think I'm done with enough stupid experiments for today. Thanks much.
