Rear main seal & New Key Ouch !! Posted by bstan9k [Email] (#215) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bstan9k) on Thu, 8 Oct 2009 12:14:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Had a new key made for my 04 9-5 Aero 65k miles(auto) the other day (blank, case, and xmitter) that cost $192 from the parts dept and $46 to marry to my car. Not cheap!
Also had a 60k maintenance inspection done and a dump of my IRIS report, which showed about 4 recall items taken care of and 15-20 other service calls, including 30k service but no 60K service.
The tech said I might have a rear mail seal leak, but the mechanic I had do an inspection before purchasing said it looked like a leak from the crankcase ventilation (PCV) box.
Dealer also wants to flush the tranny, cooling system, brake system, and oil change. Also replace spark plugs.
Also looks like the outside edge of one of my rear tires is wearing a bit more, is that a camber issue fixed with shims, or something else?
While I may agree with all the fluid changes, I'm considering doing the 3x refill on the tranny with Toyota tranny fluid.
How can I tell if it's really a rear main seal leak and what would that fix cost at the dealer approx?
