The DI cassette will fit your car no problem. All 4-cyl DI cassettes from 9-5's (they're BLACK) are interchangeable. Just don't go putting a red DI cassette from a 9-3 or 900 in a 9-5.
Honestly, try to find a 2004+ 9-5. They're more reliable and you don't have to worry about sludge. Also, coming from a Buick Century, driving a 9-5 Aero is going to be like a wagon on the Oregon Trail with wooden wheels. They will be more happy with an Arc with the softer suspension.
In my humble opinion if you're worried about them being able to maneuver a 9-5 into a parking spot, you should carefully consider whether or not they belong on the road in the first place. The 9-5 has excellent visibility, the rear park assist would be awesome for them it sounds like, and I think it would be a great choice.
