That's really weird. I have no idea why your car would just decide to poof all that smoke out like that. My V6 would make a small puff at start ups, and then when the turbo was failing it would mosquito fog the whole town after letting off the gas after hard acceleration. I WISH I had taken a video, it was soooo funny!
I would start off with inspecting all the PCV stuff. This thing I have pictured below is the oil trap and it sits on the driver side of the rear engine bank. The little nipple connects to the throttle body with the PCV valve in between, and the bigger nipple, IIRC, goes to the turbo. Make sure the little nipple isn't plugged up. Mine had some oil goobers plugging it up. There's also a rubber flap in the oil trap that's supposed to open and close under certain engine loads (I haven't taken the time to figure out how it works). Mine was shriveled up and rock hard and didn't seal. I had this box replaced along with the PCV valve around 175k miles on my 2001 V6. I'm not really sure if it helped with the blue smoke issues. I replaced all that PCV stuff and rebuilt the turbo and it still let out a small puff at start ups. I think the rings may have been getting tired, who knows.
Anyway, start off with a casual inspection of the PCV, make sure everything is clear. If you feel like it, replace the oil trap. Otherwise I would write this off as a one-time fluke and not worry about it unless it happens again. I had all sorts of "one-time flukes" with my 2001 V6.
