The question about tire life has many answers.

1. If you live in a dry southern state you can probably get away with using them until you only have 2/32" - 3/32" of thread left. The end result, assuming you don't drive aggressively a lot, would be in the 45K mile range.

2. If you drive where hydro-planning and light snow is a concern you may want to replace them when you get down to 4/32", a common recommendation of many tire companies. They won't be as prone to hydro-plan, and they'll work very poorly in any kind of snow. The end result, assuming you don't drive aggressively a lot, would be in the 37K - 40K mile range.

3. If you live in a northern state where snow is a significant factor (Like VT, ME, MN and MT) answer 2 works IF you use dedicated snow tires during the winter months. This is the approach that I use for NJ and trips to upper NY State and New England during the winter. Until I retired I worked in MA every other week; snow tires were mandatory.

In conclusion, the Michelin Exalto A/S do provide good tread life. However, many variables effect the final results....
- driving style...going AND stopping
- tire rotation plan and execution
- climate and weather conditions
- typical loads
- tire pressure maintenance plan and execution
- Suspension maintenance
- minimum tread depth that works for your driving environment
