So I pick up this 2001 Aero. Engine is in pieces - parts in the trunk. I decide to completely rebuild engine. End up having to do most of it in the car as I was having a bear of a time separating engine from transmission. Finally get fate on my side and get the engine running. The thing purrs beautifully. I was missing two of the retaining clips for the vacuum booster rigid lines and removed them for picture taking purposes. Started the car again a few days later and the dash is lit up with tcs and CEL blaring. Assuming I had missed putting a vacuum hose on right and maybe a bad connection but all seems in order. I clear codes. Limp home in full effect. I learn how to reset everything and do so. When starting the car it goes instantly back to LHM. Ready to buy a new throttle body per all the comments from so many saab owners I was thoroughly regretting picking this car up. I decide to take it for a spin anyway, just because I wanted to see if everything else (brakes, tranny) worked correctly. The car stalls, no power (of course) and literally undriveable. I'm extra pissed. I decide to check one more thing, just to see if I'd missed something while cleaning the throttle body during the engine install. I pop off the intake pipe and my problem is obvious. The shop towel I had apparently stuffed into the intake to avoid getting foreign matter in there during the install was still there in all it's glory. It's amazing the car ever ran. I know spell moron with a solid D A N. I doubt this is causing all the other throttle body issues I've read about but hey, it's worth a look.
Car drives like a dream now.
