7 series (standard model, not the L version) is 199", the new 9-5 is 197. They're also both ~4,500 lbs, though the 7 is packing a 400 hp turbo V8 and $80k base price :)
I'm very worried about the size, bulk, and engines of the new 9-5. The AWD turbo V6 is no faster than an old 9-5 Aero and every single review to date comments that the 4 cylinder is the better choice. The 2.0 may be a very nice engine but 220 hp is a bit low for a vehicle this size, especially considering the current 9-5 has been packing 260hp for several years.
