I had a vehicle slightly flooded, requiring the replacement of the TWICE at the dealer, 120 miles from where I am. The battery also died [probably due to shorting in the TWICE]. At the direction of the dealer, I jumped the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer. 11 days later . . . .
The TWICE was replaced, and a new battery installed for the dead one.
On retrieving the vehicle, the alarm horn did not work -- instead it honked softly, in lieu of chirping, which I brought to the attention of the shop foreman, who directed the Tech to "enable" the horn.
When I drove off, the radio did not work [it wouldn't even come on]. There was no messaging for a code, or anything; it just didn't come on when I pushed the button. I called the service manager who said I could enter some code, and it would work, and said that the Shop Foreman would call me and tell me what to do. {I was wary of this, since I figured the Tech device would be needed....}
On return home, and restarting, I noticed that there was a message "Service theft alarm".
On calling the Manager, and then talking to the Shop Foreman, he tells me that the tech says there were no codes to be entered, that the radio didn't work, [They never mentioned this, though I think they should have said "Hey, by the way, the radio doesn't work, and it never asked for a code...."]
Another 3 hour drive to/from the dealer, to get on line at 7am, to have someone look for more codes....
So, my questions:
What would cause the horn to honk softly, in lieu of chirping?
Why would a tech not notice the radio not working and not asking him for a code...? Shouldn't he have thought it odd, following a TWICE replacement?
When one replaces the TWICE unit, doesn't one -have- to enter the radio code? The shop foreman says no, but I am wary of his and their answers, for a variety of reasons.
He does mention that there are many other anti-theft sensors, which I -would- expect. I would not automatically expect those sensors to be damaged by water into the floor well of the car [from the sun roof...] What other alarm system elements could be effected? With water into the rear well, wetting the jute and carpet, and consequently soaking TWICE, on the driver side [no damage, apparently to any electronics under the passenger seat...]
What else could make the radio dysfunctional -- ie, not want to turn on? The dead battery? The radio worked on the way towards the dealer, though it would cut in/out with messages on the msg panel, now then, which I connected to the TWICE unit shorting and not letting the radio play [I forget the exact message.]
What other reasons, in this scenario, could account for the "service theft alarm" immediately after replacing the TWICE? A defective replacement?
I need an education, here, before I drive back there.
Thanks in advance....
