Thanks for the help , I also went back on some of your back post and saw how you analize things before doing. I know you are a long time Saab guy and also a do it yourself kind. You are my kind of guy.
My 9-5 is a 2001 Aero wagon with 90,000 miles on it , the last 45,000 are mostly highway. On my last wheel alig.about 30,000 miles ago the back camber was reading 1.7 on each side with 150 lbs in the back, because when on the highway that is about what I have in there. 2 shims was used in one side and 3 in the other, what thickness I do not know.
Inner tire ware is not bad but I would like to get it down to .75 - 1.00
with the weight. I have new 235/40/18 tires and wheels I just installed
and I went through the bushings and the top Cross Stay are history. This surprised me as with highway use and no winters the last 5 years that they would not last longer. By taking more of the Camber out of it going down the highway you should not even notice it, before the shims it was 2,25 and 2.50 and I could not even feel the difference.
I also did a check on how far the rear end drops with 150 lbs in it , the drop was 5 eights of a inch, the car has koni shocks, set in mid setting.
So I will replace the 4 CS bushings and probably the big bushing on the long arm will be in poly. Too bad CS cannont be had in poly this is a real stress area and I can see they will not last.
I also want to raise the car up by using the spacers like you did.
Are these put on the bottom of the shock or top, don't know if you can put it on the top.
Also people are saying to put the shocks in the top perch is this something that has to be done by taking the shock off the spring and adjusting, since I did not do that job I do not know what people are talking about on this subject. Could this be the 4 bolts that hold the shock on to the unibody as I know you can slide it a good half inch either direction. This tire and wheel setup is 40 mm offset and not much room to
play with on the outer top of the R wheel lip.
I would like to raise the car 1.25 inch.
I will order the tool tomorrow and do you have a link for the poly bushing for the long arm. Any help would be appriciated.
Thanks again.
