And sorry that I was not clear enough. You do know the difference between the EVAP purge valve in engine compartment and the EVAP shut off valve back there at the tank filler pipe?
The EVAP shut off valve hardly ever goes bad since it is only operated once per driving session. I have only heard about Volvo's where spiders have a tendency to build a nest in that valve/pipe making it not close shut when car is doing its test run.
The EVAP purge valve on the other hand is going non stop and that's what kills the electric solenoid and making that valve stick open or closed when bad.
