FINALLY have ABS again! But.... (long) Posted by jgARC03SW [Email] (#1216) [Profile/Gallery] (more from jgARC03SW) on Thu, 4 Nov 2010 06:45:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
OK Module+Pump number two from the auction site arrived last night and this morning I took it in to see if the module could be programmed before connecting the module to the pump, saving myself a couple hours of frustration.
Wouldn't you know this one wouldn't let itself be programmed either, but this time the indy agreed to sell me the spare one that was able to be hooked up via Tech2 last time.
So after about two months I have ABS again. That's the good news.
It is raining hard today so I was able to verify the ABS is working (with nobody behind me i drove onto the shoulder lane and broke hard).
However I am not sure ESP is working. Though it's been so long I'm not sure if I remember how it's supposed to work haha. The ESP switch does not seem to have an effect now, when stopped or under 35mph it would turn off the TCS/ESP and the orange TCS-off light would illuminate. That doesn't happen now.
When on I-95 I started hydroplaning a couple times but the system didn't seem to do anything nor did the orange blinking "I'm keeping you safe" light appear like I think it used to.
Next when purposely accelerating around a waterlogged curve to test it further, it sensed I was skidding and this time the TCS light DID blink and I could sense the engine power being limited but I still felt a little fishtailing.
Wrong module part # perhaps? There are so many Bosch part numbers...... ARGH
I am tempted to just cut my losses and hope the ABS keeps working this winter. With snow tires and driving sensibly I shouldn't spin out just because I don't have ESP unless some soccer mom in a big SUV on the cellphone cuts me off in a snowstorm.
So far I've thrown about $900 at this, still better than 2-3K that the dealer would likely have wanted. I called a couple with the C0131 code I was getting before and they had both said that complete replacement was the only likely solution.
