Well, just took a reading on the head bolts and they are very loose (some of them). So will get a set of head bolts are torque them down and see what happens.
I thought of the thermo being bad, but how would this over pressurize when it is not getting too hot? If the thermo is bad, it should just stay very cold or very warm, correct?
If there was a true crack, the pressure should leak back out right away when the engine is off, correct? Pressure holds until I release the pressure. Were the cracks in the head or the block?
So, the only thing that I can come up with is that compression is going into the system and then the head gasket is working like a one way valve?
This is a interesting problem... Any more comments, thanks so far.
