lots of nice cars at fair prices sold by largely knowledgeable owners.

We have been finding the same thing as you... we are in Canada, and almost all cars in the classifieds here at Saabnet are American so not cost effective to us (border fees etc). the local sellers rarely know the cars well. eg I have yet to find a pre-2004 with pcv#6 (even the dealer serviced one that went through thousands of $$ worth of warranty repairs for sludge, still no PCV update!!)... actually, about 30% of the 9-5's I see in the classifieds up here are for parts with dead engines (ie sludge for 2.3L, neglected timing belt V6), and probably a decent chunk of the remaining are sludging but the owners don't know it yet... And a higher price at a used car lot doesn't guarantee it either... at one, I pulled the dipstick on an 05 wagon, and the oil was black as tar... and really, I'd rather see that, than the same car gussied up for sale... makes it easy to walk away...

all that said, for the right price, even sludge is resolvable...

I'm hoping that we'll see an influx of the older models hit the market when the 9-4X and new 9-5 wagon hit the dealerships!
