broken shifter paddle

The downshift paddle on my 2006 9-5 steering wheel broke a month or so ago. One of the small circular tabs is broken, but the long tab is intact. I popped it back in and it stayed in place until today.
Now it just falls out when it faces down.
Is this an easy DIY job to fix?
Can I just carefully put a little contact or rubber cement on the long tab to hold it in place or will this block it from functioning?
Thanks in advance for any help with this.
